US edition of Roopa Unnikrishnan’s ‘The Jasmine Murders’ released

Indian-American award-winning author, sports shooter and innovation consultant Roopa Unnikrishnan has launched the global edition of her debut crime fiction novel, ‘The Jasmine Murders: An Uma-Jayan Mystery’.
Published internationally in hardcover by Abney Hall Books, the period crime thriller is now available across the United States, Europe and global markets.
Unnikrishnan, an Arjuna Award recipient and Commonwealth Games gold medalist in rifle shooting, brings a remarkably multifaceted background to her fiction debut. A Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, she built a career leading enterprise strategy and innovation for Fortune 500 companies.

Set in the remote town of Manamadurai, Tamil Nadu, during the mid-1960s, ‘The Jasmine Murders’ centers on newlyweds Uma and Jayan, the town’s newly appointed police chief.
Their quiet arrival is shattered when a man arrives at their doorstep bearing the severed head of a young woman, with fresh jasmine blossoms still braided into her hair. As an impending cyclone threatens the region, the couple is drawn into a web of caste politics, long-buried family secrets and escalating communal tension.
Critics have praised the novel for eschewing standard mystery tropes to deliver a grounded, atmospheric portrait of post-Independence India, highlighting the quiet agency of women navigating complex social hierarchies.
The global hardcover edition of ‘The Jasmine Murders’ is now available to international readers via Abney Hall Books.
Unnikrishnan’s nonfiction debut, ‘The Career Catapult’, won the Independent Press Award.
