Indian truck driver involved in fatal Mississippi crash
According to MHP officials, Singh was driving westbound in a 2021 Freightliner when 36-year-old Dedric Garrett of Terry, Mississippi, exited his 2016 Honda CR-V and was struck by the Freightliner.

An Indian driver of an 18-wheeler has been accused of killing a pedestrian in Mississippi.
The deadly collision occurred Aug. 20 just after 1:30 p.m. in Hinds County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) identified the driver as Sube Singh of Fresno, California.
At approximately 1:46 p.m., MHP responded to reports of a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a pedestrian on I-20 West near the 29-mile marker.
According to MHP officials, Singh was driving westbound in a 2021 Freightliner when 36-year-old Dedric Garrett of Terry, Mississippi, exited his 2016 Honda CR-V and was struck by the Freightliner.
Garrett sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to media reports, Singh is a citizen of India who is in the U.S. illegally.
Border Patrol encountered Singh on Nov. 19, 2017. He was released from ICE custody on bond on May 10, 2018, and is enrolled in an alternative to detention with a GPS monitor, reports said.
Singh was not injured in the crash.
