Hermann Rodrigues / Provided
Award-winning Indian-born photographer Hermann Rodrigues has spent the past 35 years documenting the lives, journeys, and evolving identities of Scotland's South Asian communities.
Now, that decades-long body of work comes together in Broon Scots: Snapshots of Scotland's South Asian Diaspora, an exhibition on view at the North Edinburgh Arts Centre from Aug. 6-29.
In an interview with New India Abroad, the Edinburgh-based photographer reflected on the inspiration behind the project, the changing face of Scotland's South Asian communities, and the legacy he hopes the exhibition will leave for future generations.

I had the honour of viewing his full collection in person. Amazing photographs from over 30 years covering the south asian community in Scotland. Herman, himself is a very warm and kind person.

Always looking for a better angle…that’s what separates a good photographer from a great one! I’ve been following Mr. Rodrigues’ exceptional work for the past 42 years. He has yet to disappoint. His artistry of making his subjects look better than ever through his pictures remains unparalleled. His passion to highlight time-honored crafts, art, and beauty everywhere he travels comes through in every picture he clicks. This exhibition showcases a different angle which is quite refreshing. Thank you for sharing your talent!
